We are thrilled to announce that Ensemble Mike Aquirre will be Rising Sun Performance Company's 2013 Resident Playwright. His play "Almost a Fantasy" performed to sold out houses and rave reviews the 2011 FRINGE Festival

Playwright Residencies are focused on practice and process for the artist. While the playwright may create several new works during these residencies, the focus is to help support the end goals of the individual playwright. This could be the development of several works, finish existing works in progress or focus on one play from start to finish. The hope is that thePlaywright will come away with their own goals met while also supporting the philosophy and wellbeing of all ensemble members. RSP is committed to supporting the development of new works by Mike Aquirre during their 12th Season.

Michael Aguirre is a graduate of Indiana University. His most recent production of Almost A Fantasy produced at the New York City International Fringe Festival with Chelsea RepLAB and The Acting Studio. He has also worked with Wide Eyed Productions as their playwright apprentice, and he has had play readings at The Bridge Theater and the Richmond Shepard Theater, and has had a fully produced ten-minute play, The Convention of Leaving, performed at the Arthur Seelen Theatre (@ the Drama Book Shop). Michael is thrilled to be the Resident Playwright with Rising Sun.
