Brian Petty Production & General Management Brian Petty is ecstatic to be on board with Rising Sun Performance Company. Brian is currently a student at Ramapo College of New Jersey and has a double major in Business Administration and Theater Design and Technology. Brian hopes to go into the Theatrical Administration field when he gets out of college in hopes to one day run and maintain a community theater of his own. Brian looks forward to everything he is going to learn this summer with Rising Sun!
Deborah Trotchine Fundraising & Development Intern
Deborah Trotchine is an Acting student at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently undergoing primary training at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School. Raised in a rich, multicultural environment, Deborah is both fluent in Russian, and French, and is a lover of all types of art. She has been studying theatre for many years, and in many forums, including the Yale Summer Conservatory for Theatre Artists. Originally from Canada, Deborah is excited to finally be contributing to the thriving artistic environment of New York City!
Krystal Wilson Stage Management & Production Intern
Krystal Wilson is excited to be so hands on with Rising Sun. She grew up in The Bronx and has had a love for theatre ever since she can remember. She loved the productions on Broadway and off-Broadway but knew that this was her passion after performing in Once on This Island Jr. in fifth grade. She went on to perform as Juliet in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, tried her part in improvisation in a show called Foos and Follies and most recently, the Ensemble of an adaption of Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master & Margarita.She has dedicated her life to theatre and intends to learn everything it has to offer.
Leah Vohsey Literary Management Intern
Leah Voysey is a recent college graduate from Ramapo College where she received a BA in Theatre with a concentration in acting. She is currently interning with Rising Sun Performance Company to learn more about all aspects of running a theatre company with a focus in Literary Direction. Some of her acting credits include Wendla (Spring Awakening), M’Lynn (Steel Magnolias), and Varya (Cherry Orchard).
Michael Witkes Direction & Casting Intern
Michael Witkes is a rising senior at Muhlenberg College, majoring in Theatre with concentrations in Acting and Directing. He is excited to join the Rising Sun team as a Directing/Casting intern for the summer. Past credits include Harold and the Purple Crayon (Enchantment Theatre Company), and Marriage of Figaro and On The Town at Muhlenberg College
Prentis Marquis General Production Intern
Prentiss Marquis had her first professional acting job with Rising Sun Performance Company at the age of nine years old playing Bettye Paris in The Crucible. (She celebrated her 10th birthday during one of the performances.) Rising Sun was just starting and some of the actors are still with Akia some eight years later. Prentiss has done a few independent films and lots of commercial and commercial print work since. She has moved to New Jersey to be closer to the jobs. Prentiss graduates from Montclair High School in late June and will be attending Sarah Lawrence College in late August 2014.
Sophia Gutchinov General Production Intern
Sophia Gutchinov attends Marymount Manhattan College to receive the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree theatre and minors in neuroscience. Her educational achievements are: Dean’s List, International Baccalaureate Certificate, and previous member of National Honor Society. Other achievements are: Emerging Leaders program at MMC, creating a chapter of Glamour Gals-volunteer organization at MMC which won Outstanding New Organization Award at MMC, Outstanding Freshman Student Leader Award at MMC, modeling in Tara Subkoff’s Imitation of Christ “This is Not a Fashion Show” Fashion Week 2012 Event-NYC, Two River Theatre Playback Program, and Barbizon Outstanding Personality Award. Wherever her life’s journey takes her, she always wants to continue helping the world through her altruism.
Sydney Stewart Production Management & Design Intern
I am fresh out of Binghamton University’s theatre program and stepping into NYC’s Indie Theatre for the first time. I got my degree in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in scenic design. Most recently, I was the scenic charge artist for ‘Twilight Zone’ and assistant scenic designer for ‘Anne Boleyn’. I have also worked on props, construction, painting and costumes. I am so excited to be a production intern with Rising Sun!
