RSP had an amazing year of New Works, Youth Mentoring, Free Performances and Presenting in non traditional venues.
Season 13 brought together over 100 Theatre Artists and nearly 1000 audience members in a year of completely new work and plays. We mentored and worked with 10 Amazing college students who spent their summer interning with us, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to have their talents this season. RSP produced the NYC premiere of DONKEY by resident playwright John Patrick Bray, Directed by Tim Errickson at the Planet Connections Theatre Festival, receiving 4 Awards and 12 Nominations. Donkey has also received three publishing contracts. RSP created a new working relationship with TheaterLab, and presented two productions there. "Shhh..It's a Speakeasy" an immersive theatrical party and "Theatre Mash Up: Children Are Terrifying" a collection of 6 brand new plays created and presented in 24 Hours featuring over 40 Artists in one night. RSP Presented 4 Nights of FREE Theatre that featured 24 New Plays, 26 Directors and 62 Actors during our UNDER REHEARSED Series at The West Brooklyn. RSP spent two fun weekends in Long Island City performing Free Children's Theatre outdoors with Dream Exchange, a brand new play for young audiences. Rising Sun Performance Company presents
Dream Exchange a New Family Friendly Play for Kids & Adults alike! Performances are FREE Henry longs to help his disabled sister, as he launches a daring plan to travel through a world of wonder & unknown, his adventures are put at risk when he meets an unfriendly stranger. Soon Henry realizes he must also help his new foe, despite his protests. In the end lessons are learned by all, adventures are had and friendships are made. A delightful and inspiring story about how spirit can triumph over adversity physical and imagined. Experiment #23b (BROOKLYN MUSEUM) Sept. 19 & 21, 2013 Presented by the BEAT Festival Experiment #23b (BROOKLYN MUSEUM)transforms the traditional museum tour, guiding audiences throughout the historic building on a personalized journey of the unexpected. The IPA will again be calling on a large cast of performers, museum guides, artists, and security guards to provide an intimate playground for the imagination. Join the adventure.
